  • WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND OREGON PINOT CAMP?

Members of the wine trade who are invited by a participating OPC winery. No media. OPC Alumni may only attend camp again through a limited winery "instant invite" after five years have passed since attending.

  • HOW DO I GET INVITED TO OPC?

Here's an overview of the OPC invitations process:

    STEP 1 - Nominations | November

The 52 participating wineries in Oregon Pinot Camp each submit a list of candidates for camp to the OPC staff. These OPC “nominees” are members of the wine trade who have not attended OPC in the past. OPC receives more than 800 names for consideration, for 270 camper spots.

STEP 2 - Vetting the Nominations | December - early January

The OPC Steering Committee reviews each nominee to confirm their viability as a camper and availability to attend, if possible.

The Committee considers many factors in reviewing nominees, including:

    • Existing support for Oregon wines
    • Position as account decision-maker
    • Buying power for Oregon wines
    • Type of account
    • Diversity of candidates
    STEP 3 - Invitations | late January - February

Selected nominees are invited to attend OPC. Spots are limited, and unfortunately not all nominees will be invited to camp. If you are invited to OPC, you will receive an official invitation from Megan Markel, Camp Manager: megan@willamettewines.com.

    STEP 4 - Registration | late January - March

Invited campers must register for camp and pay the $350 registration fee after being invited in order to secure their spot.

  • HOW MUCH DOES OPC COST?

There is a $350 registration fee. Campers are also responsible for travel expenses to Oregon, lodging, and transportation to and from wine country.

  • WHAT MEALS ARE PROVIDED?

Dinner at the opening reception on Monday evening. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday. Day three events on Thursday are optional.

  • WHAT TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED?

Campers are responsible for transportation from the airport to wine country upon arrival. OPC provides transportation from designated hotels to all OPC events on Monday evening (opening reception), Tuesday, and Wednesday. Campers are responsible for transportation to Day Three activities (Thursday). Campers are also responsible for transport from wine country to the airport at the close of camp. All major rental car companies are available at PDX.

  • WHAT CLOTHES SHOULD I BRING?

Dress for camp is Wine Country Casual. Bring sturdy shoes for vineyard workshops. Bring layers for Oregon’s cool mornings to be shed as the day warms up, and be prepared with a hat in case we have a hot day in the vineyard.

  • WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?

The average temperature in June is 74° for the high and 53° for the low with average precipitation of 1.48″. OPC takes place at the end of the month, so it is often quite warm and can reach temperatures in the 80s and 90s. Because it’s Oregon, we prepare for cool weather and rain or extreme heat. Check the forecast before you pack!

  • WILL MY ALLERGIES KICK IN?

Yes, they sure will. Oregon’s grasses and the agriculture surrounding our vineyards bring out the WORST of allergy symptoms. Bring your allergy medicine!

  • DO I HAVE TO STAY IN A PARTICULAR HOTEL?

No. However, transportation to OPC activities (which campers are required to take on Tuesday and Wednesday) is provided from the specified OPC hotels only. We highly recommend staying in one of these hotels. If you choose to stay elsewhere, you will be assigned to one of the hotels for your bus pickup. You will receive instructions for where to meet your bus.
